Japan Studio shut down because it couldn't deliver Sony's hardware-driving blockbusters

Former PlayStation Studios head Shuhei Yoshida has explained why Sony dissolved Japan Studio in 2021. He says the studio was unable to produce the kind of games Sony needed to drive hardware sales, which was the company's key strategic priority at the time. All that remains of Japan Studio today is Team Asobi, the developer behind Astro Bot.
