Shoshone nation restores site of deadliest Native American massacre in US history

In 1863, Union soldiers killed an estimated 250 to 500 members of the Shoshone nation in what is considered the deadliest massacre of Native Americans in US history. The killings followed mounting tensions between white settlers and the Shoshone. Today, the Shoshone nation is working to restore the site and bring what they describe as "nature back into balance."
