Scientists build "electron lighthouse" using laser light to steer electrons

Scientists have created an "electron lighthouse" that uses laser light to launch and steer electrons through a semiconductor without applying an electrical field. The underlying quantum effect could in the future improve optical sensors, communications systems, imaging, and information storage technologies.
