Gironde evacuees return home as fires stabilise but are not yet out

Some residents evacuated from the Gironde region in south-west France have been allowed to return home after authorities said the fires have been stabilised, though not entirely extinguished. French interior minister said around 40,000 hectares were burned. Other evacuees remain unable to return while the situation is fully brought under control.
