Username typo by US police sent innocent Canadian man to prison for 18 months

Brandon Klayme, a Nova Scotia man, spent 18 months in prison after being wrongfully convicted of child sex abuse charges because Wisconsin police mistakenly typed his Kik messenger username in a subpoena instead of the actual suspect's handle. A Canadian court convicted him solely on the basis of the erroneous username. A Nova Scotia court later overturned the conviction after the error came to light.
