Obajtek spent three months with Morawiecki's group — will PiS let him back without penalty?
Former Orlen CEO Daniel Obajtek spent three months aligned with Mateusz Morawiecki's association, distancing himself from PiS despite his close ties to Jarosław Kaczyński. On 28 July he is due to appear before prosecutors, while Kaczyński has called for a rally in his defence. Stanisław Kowalczyk, who first gave Obajtek his public profile, says "Daniel always wanted to be close to the party leader." Commentators are asking whether Obajtek could benefit from the current split within PiS.
