Orbán's fall reshapes Serbia's political future
Vladimir Putin, justifying his February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, cited NATO's bombing of Belgrade as a foundational Western crime. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić had long balanced between Russia and the EU, modelling his rule partly on Viktor Orbán's Hungary. With Orbán's political decline, Vučić loses a key reference point, forcing Serbia to reconsider its political direction.
