Betye Saar, assemblage artist who challenged Black stereotypes, dies at 99

Betye Saar, a leading figure in assemblage art, has died at the age of 99. She created works using dolls, family photographs, fabric scraps and other found objects, subverting racist Black stereotypes through her art. Her pieces left a lasting mark on American contemporary art history.
