Georgia's Okefenokee Swamp added to UNESCO World Heritage list

The Okefenokee Swamp in the US state of Georgia has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is one of the largest and best-preserved wetland ecosystems in North America. The listing recognises the swamp's outstanding natural value.
