English Football Trials Rule to Stop Goalkeeper Tactical Time-Outs

English football will trial new rules in the 2026–27 season aimed at stopping goalkeepers from feigning injuries to disrupt the game and allow tactical instructions. The initiative is backed jointly by Pro Ref, the FA, the Premier League, the EFL, the WSL and the National League. IFAB has not yet granted formal permission for the rule change.
