Navy's GARC kamikaze drone boat punched hole in ex-USS Peleliu at RIMPAC 2026 SINKEX

During RIMPAC 2026, the Navy's Global Autonomous Reconnaissance Craft (GARC) uncrewed surface vessel completed its first live-fire training exercise, attacking the decommissioned Tarawa-class amphibious assault ship ex-USS Peleliu on July 17 in the Pacific Ocean. The kamikaze drone boat blew a hole in the ship's hull. The Navy released video of the event on July 24. The exercise came just weeks after the U.S. military publicly acknowledged using kamikaze drone boats in combat for the first time.
