Most visitors experience Saint Agatha in February, when hundreds of thousands of people flood Catania's streets for one of Europe's largest religious festivals. Hidden beside the cathedral, however, is the place where the city's devotion quietly waits for the rest of the year.

The Museo d'Arte Sacra is less an art museum than a journey through the objects that have shaped Catania's religious identity for centuries. Rooms filled with silver reliquaries, sculpted saints, icons, paintings, liturgical treasures, and elaborate ceremonial objects reveal how deeply the story of Saint Agatha is woven into the city's history. Among the highlights is the magnificent silver fercolo used during the annual procession, allowing visitors to admire its craftsmanship from only a few feet away—something impossible during the crowded festival itself.
