Maldini and Leonardo quit Italian FA after Pirlo's candidacy rejected

Paolo Maldini and Leonardo have resigned as technical director and advisor respectively of the Italian Football Federation, according to Fabrizio Romano. Both men had taken up their roles only ten days earlier. Their departure was reportedly triggered by federation president Giovanni Malago rejecting Andrea Pirlo's candidacy as national team head coach.
