Pinochet-Era Soldier Jailed for Killing Folk Singer Víctor Jara 53 Years On

Nelson Haase Mazzei, a retired Chilean colonel, has been captured and jailed for the murder of folk singer Víctor Jara. He and six other retired soldiers were sentenced in absentia in 2023, but Haase Mazzei fled the country. Jara was killed during the Pinochet dictatorship over 53 years ago.
