Russian Railways drowning in 195bn-zloty debt as Kremlin fast-tracks massive fare hikes

The Russian government has decided to bring forward a fare hike for Russian Railways, originally planned for 2027, to rescue the state monopoly's finances. The company has accumulated nearly 4 trillion rubles (195 billion zloty) in debt. The accelerated increases are intended to stabilise the railway giant's budget.
