France wildfires: 220,000 evacuated as over 40,000 hectares scorched in southwest

French firefighters continued battling wildfires in the country's southwest on Monday, with blazes having scorched more than 40,000 hectares of land. Around 220,000 people — including tourists and local residents — were evacuated.
