Amazon plans 5,105-satellite direct-to-device network launching in 2028

Amazon filed an FCC application to build a new low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation of 5,105 satellites that would provide direct-to-device service covering voice, messaging, data and emergency calls. Deployment is planned to begin in 2028, pending regulatory approval. Amazon says it will partner with mobile network operators to deliver the service globally.
