Amazon seeks FCC approval to launch 5,105 satellites for direct-to-device network

Amazon has sought federal approval to launch 5,105 satellites to build a direct-to-device communications network. The proposed network will partly rely on assets from Globalstar, which Amazon announced plans to acquire in April for roughly $11.6 billion. The move would put Amazon in direct competition with SpaceX's Starlink service.
