Experts say consolidation in the food industry is worsening cyclospora outbreaks by allowing contaminated produce to spread to hundreds of locations at once through a single supplier. Cyclospora is a parasite transmitted mainly through fresh produce that causes severe diarrhoea. Researchers are calling for reforms to the food supply chain.
