Nissan Dayz kei car updated with wider safety cameras and USB-C port

Nissan updated the Dayz kei car for the Japanese market.

A pair of fresh bi-tone paint options refine the exterior design.

The model gains wider safety camera angles and a USB-C port.

The Dayz, the smallest and cheapest passenger vehicle in Nissan’s Japanese lineup, received a mild update focused around safety, extra cabin features, and new colors. Planned and developed under Nissan’s NMKV joint venture with Mitsubishi, the refreshed city car remains a twin to the Mitsubishi eK Custom and eK X kei cars .

The second-generation Dayz arrived in 2019 and got its first facelift in 2023. Three years on, the second facelift lands without any real styling changes. Nissan is now adding new two-tone color options, including White Pearl / Cinnamon Latte and Frozen Vanilla Pearl / Celadon Green. On every two-tone configuration, the door handles now match the roof finish.

Buyers who want more can step up to the Bolero or the Highway Star Urban Chrome variants from the Nissan Motorsport & Customize (NMC) division . The Bolero builds on the entry-level Dayz X with rally-inspired 15-inch alloy wheels, white mirror caps, and a beige/pink interior theme. The Highway Star Urban Chrome adds dark chrome accents, silver mirror caps, multi-spoke 15-inch alloys, special floor mats, and soft-touch waterproof seat upholstery.

Nissan Dayz Highway Star Urban Chrome

The headline change is that the Dayz now meets Japan’s latest safety regulations. To get there, Nissan widened the horizontal viewing angle of the front camera, extending the detection range and reliability of the emergency braking system.

Additionally, the automaker added a standard rear seat reminder system to ensure drivers do not accidentally leave items or cargo on the back bench. Finally, front passengers benefit from a standard USB Type-C power port for charging their devices.

Nissan Dayz Bolero

Under the hood, the Dayz carries over its two 660cc three-cylinder powertrains, both paired with the XTronic CVT and offered in FWD or 4WD. The naturally aspirated version makes 52 hp (38 kW / 52 PS), while the turbo engine puts out 64 hp (47 kW / 64 PS), with an extra 2.7 hp (2.0 kW) coming from a mild-hybrid system.

Pricing for the Nissan Dayz opens at ¥1,500,400 ($9,200) and climbs to ¥2,217,600 ($13,600) for the flagship turbo 4WD model with the Highway Star Urban Chrome package. The refresh follows recent revisions across Nissan’s wider JDM kei lineup, including the mechanically related Sakura EV and Roox wagon .

The Dayz is the cheapest new passenger vehicle Nissan sells in Japan, though it still costs more than the brand’s commercial kei vans and trucks. The recently updated Clipper Truck starts at ¥1,344,200 ($8,200), and the Clipper Van at ¥1,454,200 ($8,900). Worldwide, the title of cheapest Nissan goes to the Magnite urban SUV, which opens at ₹565,000 ($5,900) in India.
