Rebuilding Gironde After Wildfire to Cost €5,000–€10,000 per Hectare
While firefighting efforts in the Gironde department continue, France is already counting the costs of rebuilding and replanting the devastated forests. The government estimates the bill at between €5,000 and €10,000 per hectare of burned land. The scale of the destruction makes it one of the region's biggest environmental and economic challenges.
