Sparkling water safer for teeth than sugary soda, small study suggests
A small preliminary study tracked changes in mouth acidity after drinking various beverages and found that unsweetened sparkling water caused only a temporary drop in salivary pH before saliva restored normal conditions. Crucially, acidity remained above the threshold associated with enamel damage. Sugary soda, by contrast, caused a stronger and more prolonged pH drop.
