When should you treat a fever? Evolutionary biology has the answer
A study published in Nature argues that understanding natural selection can sharpen medical decisions, including when to treat a fever. Fever is an evolved response to infection, and suppressing it too quickly may undermine the body's natural defences. The authors also suggest evolutionary thinking could improve social policies and crop yields.
