Plague remains as deadly today as in the Middle Ages

The plague, widely associated with medieval epidemics, still occurs today — including in Madagascar — and is just as lethal as it was centuries ago. The disease has not disappeared and remains an active health threat in certain regions of the world. Without rapid antibiotic treatment, the fatality rate remains very high.
