Italy's Senate chief: Meloni would make a great president

Italian Senate President Ignazio La Russa said Premier Giorgia Meloni would be "a great asset" for Italy as head of state. He added, however, that in his view Meloni has no intention of running for president in 2029, when Sergio Mattarella's term ends. Speculation about Mattarella's successor is intensifying as the end of his mandate approaches.
