Ex-army chief Eisenkot emerges as Netanyahu's main rival ahead of October 27 vote

Former Israeli military chief Gadi Eisenkot has emerged as the principal challenger to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of a fiercely contested general election scheduled for October 27. Eisenkot is running on a 10-point platform he says will restore Israel's security, unity and democratic institutions.
