Paddleboarder who rescued shark attack victim wins world title in record time

Australian paddleboarder Charlie Verco, 25, won his fourth world championship in the gruelling 52km Molokai to Oahu race in Hawaii on Sunday, finishing in 4 hours, 18 minutes and 3 seconds — three minutes faster than fellow Australian Matt Bevilacqua's 2019 record. The feat came weeks after Verco rescued Leah Stewart, who had been attacked by a great white shark near Sydney's Coogee Beach. Verco said he was "stoked" to claim the title.
