Reform UK's overseas worker levy would harm NHS, schools and universities, experts warn
Experts warn that Reform UK's plan for a "migrant worker surcharge" — a higher employer national insurance rate plus a separate annual charge for any employee without a UK passport, including EU nationals with settled status — would damage the NHS and social care sector, cause shortages of schoolteachers, and could push some universities into bankruptcy. Irish passport holders would be the only exemption. The policy is part of Nigel Farage's party's platform.
