Swiss wastewater carries 43 kg of gold and 3 tonnes of silver a year

Research has found that Swiss wastewater contains roughly 43 kg of gold and 3 tonnes of silver each year, washed into the sewage system from the watchmaking and pharmaceutical industries as well as households. Scientists are examining whether recovering these precious metals from wastewater could be economically viable.
