Uzbekistan: Archaeologists Uncover 8th-Century Palace in Samarkand Region

Archaeologists excavating the Mingtepa site in the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan have uncovered a monumental architectural complex dating to the first half of the 8th century. Researchers believe the complex served as a palace for local rulers of the period. The find is considered a major discovery for the study of early medieval architecture in Central Asia.
