Sunderland reject Chelsea's £8m bid for Xhaka: 'Granit wants to stay'

Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris has declared Chelsea's pursuit of captain Granit Xhaka "closed", insisting the 33-year-old midfielder will not be sold this summer. Chelsea, under new manager Xabi Alonso, made an £8m bid to reunite with Xhaka, whom Alonso managed at Bayer Leverkusen. Xhaka was instrumental in Sunderland's Europa League qualification on their Premier League return.
