Nolan's 'The Odyssey' dominates box office; only Ritchson dares compete

With Christopher Nolan 's latest epic, The Odyssey , continuing its box-office domination this weekend, studios preferred to stay out of its way. Even Sony might be concerned about Spider-Man: Brand New Day , which debuts in a week. The movie will court an entirely different demographic, but The Odyssey is on a generational run, outpacing both The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises . This weekend, the movie overtook two previous Nolan films — Tenet and Batman Begins — and was essentially given a wide berth by competitors. The only other new releases were Hadestown: The Musical , a filmed adaptation of the Broadway production that serves as an unusual companion piece to The Odyssey , and the action movie Motor City .
