Wolin Island: bison, beaches and Poland's "Amazon" on the Baltic coast

Wolin Island in north-western Poland is home to a herd of ten European bison living just 1.5 km from the resort town of Międzyzdroje, descendants of animals brought to the area in the 1970s. The introduction of Pendolino train services between Warsaw and Szczecin has made the region far more accessible. Known informally as "Poland's Amazon", Wolin is an increasingly popular destination for nature lovers.
