D-Day Beaches and Mount Olympus Join UNESCO World Heritage List
The D-Day landing beaches in northern France and Greece's Mount Olympus were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List on Sunday at a UN committee meeting in South Korea. The Normandy beaches, site of the Allied invasion on June 6,, attract nearly 1.8 million visitors annually. Dozens of nominations were reviewed at the session.
