Nolan's 'The Odyssey' overtakes 'The Dark Knight' to set new personal box-office record

After delivering the biggest global debut of Christopher Nolan 's career, The Odyssey has broken another personal record for the filmmaker. Nolan works exclusively on large-scale projects, which means that he has set a high box-office bar for himself over the years. Two of his movies — The Dark Knight and its sequel, The Dark Knight Rises — have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide. Another film, Oppenheimer , came awfully close to hitting this coveted milestone in 2023. The biographical thriller ended its theatrical run with $975 million against a reported budget of $100 million. It should surpass the $1 billion milestone if it is ever re-released. But Oppenheimer will likely be beaten to the punch by The Odyssey , which is going on a rampage at the box office.
