"Rose" and "Someone in Me" at New Horizons: two films on fluid identity
Two art-house films exploring gender identity are screening at the Tauron Nowe Horyzonty festival. In Markus Schleinzer's "Rose", Sandra Hüller plays a woman passing as a man in a historical setting, while in Arthur Harari's "Someone in Me", Léa Seydoux portrays a man trapped in a woman's body. Both films are reviewed by Maciej Satora and Łukasz Mańkowski. Schleinzer's film is noted for its focus on actors' faces as mirrors of the era's suffering.
