U.S. Army selects XM8 rifle under Next Generation Squad Weapon programme

The U.S. Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) programme aims to replace current infantry rifles with a platform capable of reliably defeating modern body armour at ranges beyond those achievable with 5.56 mm ammunition. The Army has selected the XM8 rifle under the programme as the successor to existing weaponry.
