DNA Study Overturns Assumption That Medieval Double Graves Held Family Members

Researchers at Stockholm University analysed DNA from 142 individuals buried in medieval double graves. Contrary to long-held archaeological assumptions, adults and children buried together were frequently not blood relatives. The findings challenge the widespread belief that such burials always represented a parent with a child or close siblings.
