GM Backs Sodium-Ion Batteries for US Grid Energy Storage

General Motors has backed sodium-ion battery technology for use in US grid-scale energy storage. Sodium-ion batteries are cheaper to produce than lithium-ion alternatives and do not require lithium or cobalt, making them an attractive option for large-scale power grid applications.
