Single rapamycin dose reversed autism-like symptoms in mice within hours
Researchers found that mild inflammation during pregnancy caused mouse offspring to develop persistent brain overactivity, sensory sensitivity, repetitive behaviours and increased seizure risk. Remarkably, a single dose of rapamycin reversed nearly all these symptoms within approximately two hours. The benefits were temporary, but the findings suggest adult brain circuits retain far greater adaptability than previously thought.
