Yoshida: Sony Shut Japan Studio Because Its Games Didn't Drive Console Sales

Shuhei Yoshida, former president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, revealed at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference that Japan Studio was closed in 2021 because its games did not drive console hardware sales. Sony was focused on blockbuster titles like God of War and Uncharted at the time. Yoshida encouraged fans of Japan Studio's creative output to support its former developers by playing their new games, Slitterhead and Ratatan.
