Researchers bypass Apple's Gatekeeper — Apple says it's not a bug worth fixing

Two security researchers demonstrated that macOS's Gatekeeper can be bypassed by swapping a previously run legitimate app with malware, which Gatekeeper then fails to re-verify. Apple dismissed the finding, stating that locally rebuilt app bundles fall outside Gatekeeper's scope. The attack requires prior user-level code execution, meaning the practical risk is largely limited to social engineering scenarios.
