Fudan University physicist outlines how to send a gram-scale probe to a black hole
Cosimo Bambi of Fudan University in Shanghai has published a preprint on arXiv outlining what it would take to send a gram-sized probe directly to a nearby black hole. Black holes provide the strongest consistent gravitational fields in the universe, making them ideal for testing Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, but scientists are reaching the limits of remote observation. A close-up probe, Bambi argues, could unlock observations impossible from a distance.
