Natural Born Killers at 32: Oliver Stone's Thriller Still Provokes
Oliver Stone's 1994 film Natural Born Killers, based on an original screenplay by Quentin Tarantino who later disowned it, hit cinemas during the O.J. Simpson murder case and immediately sparked a moral panic over its depiction of serial-killing couple Mickey and Mallory Knox, played by Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis. Critics accused the film of glamorising violence and predicted a wave of copycat crimes. Thirty-two years on, it is being reassessed as an enduring and maturing classic.
