Cyclospora Parasite Hits US Produce, Prompting Calls to Ditch Raw Salad

The cyclospora parasite has infected an unknown quantity of fresh produce in the United States, causing thousands of people serious gastrointestinal illness. It may be spread through human feces entering irrigation systems and cannot be eliminated by standard agricultural sanitation processes. The FDA recommends discarding contaminated cilantro and starting fresh.
