Debt limitation in Poland: after 3–6 years a debtor can legally refuse repayment
Under Polish civil law, creditors have a limited window to demand repayment of private loans: the standard limitation period is 6 years, reduced to 3 years for business-related claims. Once that time elapses, a debtor is legally entitled to raise the statute of limitations and refuse payment. Creditors can reset the clock by filing a lawsuit or obtaining written acknowledgement of the debt from the debtor.
