200,000 evacuated in France and Spain as wildfires rage out of control

Massive forest fires forced the evacuation of around 200,000 people in southwestern France and central Spain, with residents fleeing areas near Madrid and Bordeaux on Friday. Firefighters in both countries admitted the blazes were too fast and violent to tackle head-on. Authorities were caught off guard by the ferocity of the fires, which were fuelled by high temperatures and long-term climate change.
