Finnish town tackles energy storage with world's largest sand battery

A small Finnish town has deployed the world's largest commercial sand battery to address one of renewable energy's biggest challenges: intermittency. The battery stores heat in heated sand and releases it into the district heating network when renewable energy output drops. The technology could offer a scalable alternative to conventional energy storage methods.
