Italy to raise defence spending to 5% of GDP over ten years

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that Italy will allocate 5% of its GDP to defence over the next ten years. The country currently spends just over 2% of GDP on its military. The pledge represents a major increase well above NATO's existing 2% target.
