Oak processionary moth reaches Poland — expert warns caterpillars pose health risk to humans and animals

The oak processionary moth, dubbed the "caterpillar from hell", has appeared in Poland, following infestations in Germany, France and Denmark. Its caterpillars are covered in irritating hairs that can trigger serious allergic reactions in humans and animals, including skin rashes, eye irritation and respiratory problems. An expert assesses the scale of the threat and whether Poland faces a full-blown invasion of the pest.
